# Billing

> Prepaid credits, the daily free cap, and how paid tools respond when a balance is empty.

Momentra runs on **prepaid credits** — no monthly plan. Only two tools spend
credits; everything else (search, brief, matching, curation, evaluation, seed) is
free.

## Credits

| | |
| - | - |
| **Free on signup** | 100 credits, granted once per account on first connect (tied to a real Stripe checkout). |
| **`index_org`** | 40 credits per org for a fresh index; 10 credits to re-index within 30 days of a *successful, non-empty* index. A crawl that can't start (non-starter) or fails is **not** charged / refunded. |
| **`fetch`** | 1 credit per id (idempotent per id per day; a not-found id is free). |
| **All other tools** | free. |

## Daily free cap

Never-paid accounts may spend at most **80 free credits per UTC day** (and all
free accounts together at most **400/day**). When a spend would exceed the cap,
the tool returns a directive (add credits or come back tomorrow) rather than
doing the work — no partial charge. Paid accounts (any credit top-up) are not
daily-capped.

## Billing responses

When a paid tool is called without enough credits (or before linking), it returns
a **success-shaped directive** — not an error — carrying a checkout link the host
can surface:

```json theme={null}
{ "status": "auth_required", "message": "…", "checkoutUrl": "https://…" }
```

`status` is `auth_required` or `insufficient_credits`. The tool does no work and
charges nothing in that case — the agent pays, gets credits, and retries.

<Note>
  A token comes from either the OAuth/CIMD flow (0-credit account) or a Stripe
  checkout (grants 100 free credits on first create). Both bind to one credit
  account; top-ups add credits (top-up only — no subscription).
</Note>

## Mint or top up a token

```http theme={null}
POST https://dkmprmp55l.execute-api.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/agent/billing/checkout
```

Returns a hosted Stripe Checkout URL; the token is bound on
`checkout.session.completed`.

## Access and availability

* Your assistant works with the organizations available to your account. Adding
  an organization with `index_org` makes it and its events available to you.
* Coverage of any organization depends on what it publishes on its own website;
  Momentra reads the published calendar and does not follow external ticketing or
  aggregator sites beyond recording their links.

See [Credits & billing](/concepts/credits-and-billing) for how MCP credits line
up with ZeroClick units.
